SYLVIA HASE

Producer  Director

Sylvia Hase and her partner Steve Bass founded Hasbas Entertainment over 25 years ago. She has been the creative force and producer of an impressive body of award-winning, world-class events and live shows across the United States, Asia, Europe, and South America. Her prestigious client list includes some of the most significant global entertainment brands: Universal, Disney, DreamWorks, Nintendo, and the Olympic Games. Corporate work includes pre-eminent brands such as Lexus, Mercedes, and The World Science Forum.

Known for bringing emotional resonance and sophistication to mega-spectacles, Sylvia served as Creative Director for Universal Studios Beijing’s new THEA award-winning Untrainable, a live adaptation of How to Train your Dragon, as well as their inaugural parade. Also for Universal, Sylvia created the Grand Opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with John Williams and the LA Symphony, a nightly Dark Arts show featuring the first ever use of drones daily, and the Grand Opening of Super Nintendo World. Her IAAPA award-winning Starlight Parade for Universal Studios Japan is the largest ever built.

Sylvia served as lead creative on the international broadcast for the Shanghai Disney Resort Opening, artfully blending grand scale projection mapping with human performance, and is responsible for the Lunar New Year Spectacle Hurry Home at World of Color, Disney’s unsurpassed lagoon and fountain show spectacular. In Japan, she opened Disney’s Forest Theater with its residence spectacle, and her THEA award-winning production of The Little Mermaid is the longest-running show at Tokyo DisneySea, seen by over 35 million guests.

Her resume also features work as the first female director in the history of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and the direction of the original musical Ludwig 2 in Germany, and she is the creator of the entertainment programming for the Londoner Hotel in Macau.

STEVE BASS

Production Design   Creative Direction

Designer and visual consultant Steve Bass is a founding partner of Hasbas Entertainment. In collaboration with his partner Sylvia Hase, they have created some of the most memorable spectacles and theater productions for global entertainment giants Disney, Universal, and DreamWorks.

His live show design includes an adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon: Untrainable for Universal, Universal on Parade, an inaugural parade for their Beijing park, and Wizarding World mapping projection Dark Arts and Four Houses shows. 

Steve has designed and conceived mega-hits for Disney, including the Lion King Celebration, and a theatrical production of The Little Mermaid. He and Sylvia conceived and created a string of successful shows starring Mickey Mouse, including Magical Map, Wondrous Book, Storybook Adventure, and Magical Musical World.

In addition to his theatrical work, Steve has designed many of the most prestigious televised shows produced, including the Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, and Tonys. Worldwide audiences have seen his work on the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Atlanta Olympics, the Salt Lake Olympics Medals Plaza, the Democratic Convention, and the Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial for President Obama. Steve has a long-standing history designing for iconic television programs such as Great Performances, Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice, the Kennedy Center Honors, TV Land Awards, and Entertainment Tonight. Corporate design includes auto giants Lexus, Toyota, and Mercedes.

Steve is the recipient of 3 Emmy Awards and 3 Awards for Excellence from the Art Directors Guild.
